"Students: All policies and Codes of Conduct outlined in the SSPJ Parent/Student Handbook are still in effect during the school closure. Any inappropriate use of Google Classroom and all other apps used to complete your assignments or to connect with other SSPJ students and teachers will result in disciplinary measures."
As a society, we’ll get a whole new context for the phrase, “live and learn.” Please know we are on this uncharted journey together! You have lots of options when it comes to Health and Physical Education while home. First, please remind yourself that what you do for P.E. doesn’t have to look like what schools do for P.E.. You can get your kids moving, learning about fitness, improving their coordination, building strength, and enjoying their physical selves in a variety of ways. I will post ideas and links throughout our closure to help you. I was currently teaching Health to grades K-8, and was able to send home a copy or two about the topics we were working on, 'hand-washing, nutrition, and energy balance'. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]. Please see the tabs below with your grade for more information. This will be a cumulative post.
Some fun 'at home' activities: Children should get 30-60 minutes of physical activity each day. Remember to always stretch before any activity. Indoor Physical Fitness Trail Create your own fitness trail by following these steps:
Print the activity signs on paper or card stock, then cut them apart.
Post the signs throughout your home, particularly in areas that are frequently visited by your child.
Each physical fitness trail sign describes a brief activity, such as “20 Jumping Jacks.” Ask students to complete the activity each time they arrive at the sign location. For example, a sign on the refrigerator might ask the student to “Do 15 lunges before opening the refrigerator door.” For a longer break, have your student “hit the trail” to complete the entire circuit of exercises. The children already know how to do Jumping Jacks, Crunches, Sit-ups, and Push-ups, so be sure to include those!
